BLOC PARTY

hey, sorry it's been a few days...I've been super busy helping Doug and our friend Laura move into a new place. My friend Alyson also moved to Seattle (sniff sniff) but I'm going to visit as soon as possible. I've also been busy trying to figure out how to pay for tuition this semester....sheesh, all that and work on top of it! How do I get ANYTHING done?? haha

well, I have pictures of the show and they were amazing as expected (even more so) and we had a little drama which may or may not have made me decide to never go to another House of Blues show again (but that's another story, I just want to talk about the great show they put on)

first of all, if you ever get a chance to see them live, GO! even if you are a mediocre fan, they will make you into a HUGE fan.

second of all, Kele is the most adorable man on the planet!

okay, pictures: (which I did not take, we met some guys at the show who promised us pictures)

and CSS opened! they were great also!

so, we had a lot of fun...danced, sweat, screamed, and danced some more

ps: they covered Prince and went right into Flux which is amazing live!

and I'm still kind of sorry I missed this....

Mercury has really really grown on me, I didn't like it at first but now I LOVE it

my birthday and madison

I went to Madison, WI on Friday with Doug and we stayed until Saturday afternoon. It was so pretty. I was very impressed! We walked around all day. I think we walked about 5 miles up and down the streets from one lake to the other. We strolled into all kinds of shops. I highly recommend a day trip to Madison, they have the best shops and bookstores and restaurants. We stayed at the DoubleTree which was very convenient. We didn't have to drive anywhere, it was so nice. AND they had a gluten free friendly restaurant, The Nitty Gritty, a block away from where we stayed. It was my first time there and I was about to move there haha :)
this is the UW terrace
we walked along Lake Mendota on this bike and hiking trail
I loved this used bookstore
we ate at a Mexican restaurant called Frida, I wanted to eat there just because of the name and it was so nice inside. very good food also
this is State St which we walked up and down
a very cool exhibit in process at the Museum of Contemporary Art

at Lake Monona and Monona Terrace
my special gluten free menu
at Great Dane Pub we sat outside and I had an amazing mozzerella and tomato salad

the WI capitol building, we walked around the Capitol Square farmers market on Saturday morning

and now for birthday presents and some projects I'm working on

my mom bought me a Daisy box set because it's my favorite scent (and the bottle is amazing) and she got me a huge vintage vogue cover framedDoug bought me some great presents but this was my favorite....a Dwight Schrute bobblehead (cue Office quote, "It's ME") and I got a LUSH box giftfrom Marissa who works there (so jealous!) and some things from benefit and I've already used most of the stuff so I decided not to take pictures.

and here are the projects I said before that I am working on from the new BUST magazine....

I had a wonderful birthday and a great trip to Madison. Yep, that's about it for today...(like all those pictures weren't enough?? haha :])

too many things

since i have taken a vacation from blogging many things have happened (all good things i assure you). because there are too many things i will just start here. today. all over again. kind of.

i have been having a lazy summer so far. school is over until august and i have been filling my days with watching movies, shopping, and enjoying the outdoors. i haven't really made anything lately due to not having time. this will change. i have been looking for a nice summer job. just for a little extra cash on the side to buy yarn and scrumptious dinners with.

i have a new boyfriend, doug. he's amazing. i could go on all day about him. he makes me really happy. more on that later.

so last weekend, doug and i went to the city and wandered around for hours and hours. we walked around lincoln park and belmont. it was nice except for the rain. it started pouring rain the second we exited the train at fullerton and didn't stop until after we found refuge in a small thai restaurant. we had a feast. it was realy yummy and i will definitely be going back there with the lovely marissa who lives in that neighborhood. we also caught up with her at swirlz, one of my favorite places in the world. they have the best cupcakes and they are gluten-free friendly. and juts plain friendly too. (i got a free cupcake becasue they were closing up shop and had extras :])

i love the city at night so i took some pictures while we were waiting for our train back to elburn

so, i will be updating this blog regularly again. i promise.
